During the evolution of modern media various separate media platforms have been developed in the sense of channels for the distribution of contents to the public (mass media), for example:
• Book
• Newspaper, Journal
• Magazine, Periodical
• Radio
• Record (Vinyl)
• Audio-CD
• Film
• Television
• Video
• CD-ROM
• Internet and WWW
• DVD, DVD-ROM
Besides these there exist individual media like telephone, letter, e-mail, etc..
Specific aspects of the different media platforms:
The media platforms mentioned differ from each other in various aspects, like:
• Addressing of human perception channels (sight, hearing, etc...)
• Traditions of the preparation and structuring of the contents
• Reception habits of the users
• Technological circumstances of the acquisition and production of contents
• Technological circumstances of the transmission of contents
• Technological circumstances of the utilization of contents by the end users
