| Know What Contact Dermatitis Is And Take Steps To Prevent It
If you are unfortunate enough to have developed contact dermatitis, you must be itching (quite literally) to know about how best to get rid of it. Keeping in mind that you must be using makeup, skin care products and even perfumes as well as cosmetics, you will certainly appreciate knowing how to reduce the incidence of contact dermatitis. However, first you should know what this condition is and then act to prevent it before it is too late. Essentially, contact dermatitis is what happens when the skin reacts because of being exposed to allergens or even irritants which generally results in phototoxic dermatitis, especially when the allergens or irritants are activated by the sunlight that you are being exposed to.
Local Rash On Your Skin
Contact dermatitis is a rash or even irritation of your skin that happens locally and which occurs because your skin has come in contact with substances that are foreign to the skin and most often the superficial parts of your skin get affected in this form of dermatitis. What ensues is inflammation where the skin is affected especially in the outermost layer of your skin and the skin that is situated immediately beneath this outermost layer. However, when your skin is not being impinged by such irritants or allergens, it is normal for your condition to fade away. If present, as a result of contact dermatitis, you can expect your skin to burn as well as itch which may also last a few days or even weeks before it gets healed.
So, now that you know what contact dermatitis, it follows that you will have understood what you can do to prevent it from happening and the first step in that direction would be to look for products that are basically hypoallergenic and even which are non-comedogenic. Then, before buying a product, you should apply a bit of it on your skin and wait a whole day to see if your skin reacts negatively to it or not. Another word of caution to you in this regard is to never share your makeup or makeup applicators with anyone, and that it is best to use those applicators that can be disposed off, and when using reusable applicators, makes sure that they are cleaned thoroughly.
You can also avoid and prevent contact dermatitis if you do not use products that have expired and in the case of perfumes and also fragrances, you need to be especially more careful as they can often lead to your having contact dermatitis, and so you should first apply them to your clothes before applying on your skin to be sure that you don’t react negatively to them.
If you follow such simple steps, there will be less likelihood of your contracting contact dermatitis and even though they do not guarantee that you stay free from the condition, they are nevertheless a step in the right direction.
