 Near Death Experience Changed My Life |
| Near death experiences seem to occur in all cultures, in all ages, and in all religions. Although there are many powerful spiritual experiences that people have, the near death experience seems to be one of the most powerful ones. The experience of almost dying and being reborn has a profound effect on almost everyone who undergoes it. It can change the entire course of your life.
My interest in near-death experiences was mostly academic at first. I heard a lot of near death stories in my family. You see, both epilepsy and religion run in my family. Hallucinations of angels and demons are nothing uncommon. Needless to say, there have been many Christian near death experiences undergone by ancestors. The stories of what they had to go through, and how the near death hell visions changed them for the better, are still told at family gatherings.
When I listened to the stories I never knew how real near death experiences could be. For me, they were only interesting stories that people would tell to entertain and enlighten us children. I was always pretty suspicious about religion. I went to church because it was expected of me. If I could have avoided it, however, I would have. I was skeptical of the validity of these near death experiences. To me it seemed like nothing but a hallucination. I never realized how real they could be.
When I had my near death experience, I was totally unprepared for it. I was having a simple surgery, you see. It wasn't supposed to be any big deal, but unexpected complications arose. Suddenly, I found myself floating over the table, looking down at myself and at the doctors around me. I had read enough stories of near death experiences to know what was going on, and yet I was still surprised by how powerful and how vivid it seemed.
They were all crowding around me, trying desperately to revive me. It was like most of the classic near death experiences. There was a light ahead of me, and all of my departed family crowded around it ready to meet me. I was told, however, that it was too early for me to die. Like most of the near death experiences I had read about, I was sent back to the earthly plane to live out the rest of my existence. Knowing that so many people who love me wait for me on the other side has really changed my life since then.
