| This is basically my thoughts and feelings on other people's generalization of single mothers and what it means to have a family...stereotypical cynics! Okay so here is my thoughts and feelings on what it means to "have" a family.
We see TV shows that show mommy daddy brother and sister cat and dog in one house and that is a family. My situation is a bit different. I am a single mother once married now divorced raising a child on my own.
So what keeps bothering me is the fact that some people who get their jollies by bringing other people down to improve their self worth say that they pity women who are raising their children on their own. They feel sorry for us because we aren't married anymore or never were and are "manless."
To answer their question yes we got pregnant and no the relationship with the father didn't work out. Some single mothers choose to take advantage of the government and not work and keep getting pregnant.
Other women take initiative and work 40+ hours a week all the while maintaining a household and trying to be the perfect parent. I guess you could say this is my way of "sticking it" to people whose definition of family is anything other than a woman and a kid in one home living life happily. To all of those out there...wake up and smell the 21st century!
