    Voro determined to rescue Valencia
Salvador 'Voro' González admits he faces "a tough situation" after replacing Ronald Koeman as Valencia CF coach on Tuesday but remains confident the club will avoid relegation.

Five game
SKoeman was dismissed just five months into his reign at the Mestalla, with the newly-crowned Spanish Cup winners a lowly 15th in the Primera División and just two points off the relegation places. Valencia have five games left to secure their place among the élite, starting with Sunday's visit of CA Osasuna, and Voro knows he does not have time on his side. "We never thought we'd be in this situation and I didn't expect to become coach, but I feel confident enough to face the challenge," the former Spanish international, 44, told reporters after overseeing his first training session. "My position has changed overnight. It's a tough situation and we'll need everyone to help, but I'm optimistic we can pull through together."

Experienced trio
Voro, an ex-Valencia defender who enjoyed spells at RC Deportivo La Coruña and CD Logroñés, also hinted at recalls for experienced trio David Albelda, Miguel Ángel Angulo and Santiago Cañizares, all of whom were out of favour under Koeman. "Those three are part of the 25-man squad and they'll play if I consider them to be fit. The club has given me complete liberty to pick my team," he added.
